Japan is no doubt one of Malaysians favourite destination to travel to, but make sure to bring some extra cash if you’re visiting Japan in 2019!

All travellers leaving Japan starting January 2019 will be required to pay a “sayonara tax” of 1000 yen (RM36.27)! The new law will kick off January 7 next year and the revenue will be used to promote rural Japan travelling spots and boost tourism infrastructures.
But if you’re only transiting within 24 hours of arrival you will be exempted from the tax!
Is anyone of you travelling to Japan in 2019? Be prepared to pay your “sayonara fees”!
