Jesse Lasios, who goes by Bearsun, has one mission, to complete the 400-mile (643km) trek from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

When asked what his goal was in accomplishing the walk, Jesse shared that he had no goal in mind when he decided to take Bearsun for the long walk.

“I’m like a puppy, I guess,” he told CNN. “I just see something, and I chase after it.”

A walk sounded like a fun adventure to the 33-year-old.

Along his journey, Jesse has encountered many obstacles, including a run in with the Los Angeles Country Sheriff’s Department.

According to him though, the deputy only wanted to make sure that Bearsun was safe and hydrated on his walk.

“This was a bear-y unique situation,” the sheriff’s office tweeted. “You may have seen a large teddy bear walking though town. One of our deputies got to meet the individuals inside the bear & learned his goal isto complete a walk from Los Angeles to San Francisco. We wish him the best of luck on his adventure.”

Jesse also faced other obstacles such as road closures and unexpectedly difficult terarain that has caused his journey to be delayed.

Bearsun was initially supposed to arrive in San Francisco on 17th April, but thanks to these difficulties, his arrival date was pushed back to 21st April.

Jesse spent his nights camping and asked his supporters for help with food and other costs through GoFundMe. He shared that any extra money made from the crowdfunding effort would go to creating an upgraded Bearsun suit.

The 33-year-old previously ran a marathon in 2020 dressed as Bearsun and he shared that he only had one goal for donning the teddy bear costume – to spread joy.

“This is what I want to do,” he said. “I just want to run marathons in my bear suit. It makes other people happy, too, and I’m all about laughter and smiles.”

At the time of writing, Bearsun is still making his way to San Francisco.
