That fresh new outfit might come with an unwanted extra — ringworm.

Retail worker and TikToker May Ricketts went viral after revealing she caught the contagious fungal infection just from handling clothes in a fitting room.
“I didn’t even try them on — just touching them gave me ringworm,” she warned.
Ringworm, which causes an itchy, circular rash, spreads through skin contact, dirty surfaces, and unwashed clothing.
The CDC says it can also spread through towels, bedding, or anything contaminated by someone infected — and new, tougher strains are emerging.
“You think it’s clean because it’s on a hanger? Think again,” Ricketts said.
Bottom line: Always wash new clothes — you never know who tried them on before you.
@mayricketts Please make sure you a VIGILANT when shopping for new clothes. New clothes does NOT mean clean clothes😭 (I couldn’t care less about the loss for the stores if the clothes were being disposed of properly, but usually they are NOT) #retailproblems ♬ original sound - May | Professional Yapper✨
