The anime community is mourning the death of a beloved artist after he passed away at age 57.

 

Anime director Osamu Kobayashi died after losing his two-year long battle with kidney cancer.

Osamu directed many anime over the years such as BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, Paradise Kiss, Someday's Dreamers II Sora, Table and Fishman, End of the World, Digital Juice, and Ani-Kuri 15.

He also worked on episodic projects for Naruto Shippūden, Gurren Lagann, Gad Guard, Dororo, and Lupin III: Part IV and more.

 

The sad news came via announcement was made on his Twitter account that explained that the director had passed away after battling kidney cancer for the past two years.

 

 

“It is regretful that there were more things he wanted to do, and more works he wanted to make, and when he is reborn he will surely make great works!” the tweet wrote.

 

The director’s work on Naruto Shippuden’s “Boyhood” arc is still beloved by many fans and follows the slice-of-life filler arc of one of young Naruto’s first interactions with Hinata when they were kids.

Many fans are mourning his death, with many thanking him for making up the shows of their childhood that they grew up watching.
