The highly anticipated PlayStation 5 just revealed a new controller called DualSense and the design is making fans go crazy!

The DualSense controller that was announced on PlayStation’s website is described as a controller that will “bring a sense of touch to PS5 gameplay” and keep "much of what gamers love about DualShock 4 intact, while also adding new functionality and refining the design."

“We had a great opportunity with PS5 to innovate by offering game creators the ability to explore how they can heighten that feeling of immersion through our new controller,” PlayStation.Blog wrote.

“This is why we adopted haptic feedback, which adds a variety of powerful sensations you’ll feel when you play, such as the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud.”

“We also incorporated adaptive triggers into the L2 and R2 buttons of DualSense so you can truly feel the tension of your actions, like when drawing a bow to shoot an arrow.”

The design team also “worked closely with our hardware engineers to place the triggers and actuators” and “make the controller somehow feel smaller than it would end up being.”

The angle of the hand trigger was also changed with “some subtle updates to the grip” and some “thoughtful consideration” was done to keep a strong battery life and ensure the controller’s weight did not get out of hand.

The “Share” button is replaced with a new “Create” button instead, which details will be revealed closer of PS5’s launch along with a built-in microphone that allows players to easily chat even for those without a headset and the light bar now sits on the sides of the touch pad instead of the top of the controller.

Canadian retailer Play N Trade recently revealed the price point for the new PlayStation 5 too and it will reportedly cost around RM1855 ($600 CA), which is what the PS4 cost back when it was released in 2013.

Although the retailer is already taking pre-orders for the console, it’s possible that it’s just a placeholder amount and seeing how production for the console has been disrupted by the pandemic, the price might cost more when it’s finally revealed.

"The PlayStation 5 will probably cost $500, and while this may seem a bit expensive, it's actually a completely reasonable price point when you consider inflation,” Comicbook wrote.

“There's mounting evidence that points not to a $400 price point, but a $500 price point. Again, this may seem a bit pricey, but after you adjust for inflation, you realize while this is still $50 more than the PS4 and PS2, it's about the same cost of the PS1, and is drastically cheaper than the PS3."

The PlayStation is set to be released sometime later this year and more details will be revealed as we head in to the expected “Holiday 2020” release!

Jim Ryan, President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said, “I truly want to thank you for sharing this exciting journey with us as we head toward PS5’s launch in Holiday 2020. We look forward to sharing more information about PS5, including the console design, in the coming months.”
