Taylor Swift was met with an unexpected reaction at the 2025 Super Bowl when she appeared on the Jumbotron, prompting a wave of boos from Eagles fans.

The 35-year-old pop star, visibly confused by the crowd’s reaction, turned to her friend Ice Spice and asked, “What’s going on?” Swift wasn’t the only one to receive mixed reactions—both the Kansas City Chiefs players and former President Donald Trump were also met with a combination of cheers and boos, according to Reuters.

Swift’s longtime friend, tennis champion Serena Williams, quickly came to her defense on social media.

"I love you @taylorswift13," Williams, 43, wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Don’t listen to those boos!!”

Swift attended the game at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome alongside Ice Spice, the Haim sisters, Ashley Avignone, and her family—including her parents and brother, Austin Swift. The group cheered from a private suite as they supported Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Swift and Kelce, both 35, have been dating since the summer of 2023. After making their relationship public in September of that year, Swift has frequently attended his games, despite criticism over the amount of camera time she receives during NFL broadcasts.

In a 2023 interview with TIME, Swift addressed the attention surrounding her presence at games.

"I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in," she said. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you have no idea when it’s putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or just once.”

She also brushed off the backlash, adding, "I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads."

Despite the public scrutiny, Swift has made it clear that she and Kelce are focused on supporting each other.

"When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, and we don’t care if other people are watching," she told TIME.

Ahead of the Super Bowl, Swift and Kelce enjoyed a double date with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, on Friday, February 9. The following night, she dined with her parents, the Haim sisters, and Kelce’s sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce.

While the boos at the Super Bowl may have been unexpected, Swift continues to stand by Kelce—unfazed by the noise.
