The phenomenal Korean hit series Squid Game has landed nominations for three categories at the 27th Critics Choice Awards.

The nominations were announced by the Critics Choice Association on Monday (Dec 6), and Squid Game was nominated for best drama series, best actor in a drama series for Lee Jung-jae and best foreign language series.

The Netflix series will compete with seven other shows for best drama series including Succession, This Is Us, Yellowjackets, Evil, For All Mankind, The Good Fight and Pose.

This is the first time a K-drama series has been nominated, although South Korean movie, Parasite, directed by Boon Jong-ho was nominated for seven awards, and eventually took home best film and best director back in January (2020).

Lee is the only non-English-speaking nominee in the best actor in a drama series category. He is up against Sterling K. Brown for This Is Us, Mike Colter for Evil, Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, both for Succession, and Billy Porter for Pose.

Best of luck, Squid Game!
