Millie Bobby Brown is standing her ground against ongoing scrutiny over her appearance.
The Stranger Things star—who has been in the public eye since she was 12—recently responded to criticism that she looks and dresses “older” than her 21 years.

After British Vogue published an article titled "No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks," the actress shared a screenshot of the piece on her Instagram Story, simply writing, "Thank you."
The opinion piece was in response to backlash over Millie’s look at the Electric State premiere, where she wore a metallic gown and styled her blonde hair in an elegant updo. While many praised her glamorous ensemble, some social media users took issue with her appearance, leaving comments such as, “Why this makeup and this blonde hair? You’re so cute in your natural version! In this pic, you look 40.” Another added, “Why does she always try to look older?”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Millie has had to address these kinds of remarks.
Back in January, after a mirror selfie sparked similar discussions, the Enola Holmes actress clapped back with a straightforward message on Instagram: “Women grow!! Not sorry about it :)”
Her fans have also come to her defense, with one writing, “Seriously, just because she started her career as a child doesn’t mean she’ll always stay the same.”
Beyond appearance-based criticism, Millie has also faced comments about her fluctuating accent. The British actress, who sometimes sounds more American in interviews, addressed the topic in a March 2024 TikTok.

"Let me just speak to that real quick," she said. "I'm an actor. I grew up in the public eye. I grew up in America. I come to set, and I adapt. So I want to mimic people."
Millie explained that she naturally picks up different accents depending on her surroundings—sounding more American when she's with husband Jake Bongiovi, and more British when she’s back home.
"I don't do it intentionally," she added. "I'm sorry if it offends you. Okay, but listen, I'm trying my best. I'm trying my best!"
Despite the constant scrutiny, Millie continues to embrace her growth—both personally and professionally—without apologies.
