With the recent surge in Delta variant cases around the world, many are staying home to avoid the spread of the virus… but not these festivalgoers!

Pictures from the Lollapalooza festival in the U.S. are going viral on the internet and it shows the estimated crowd of 100,000 people amidst the Delta variant concerns.
The festival in Chicago went ahead despite the surging Delta variant cases, with photos of the massive crowd with no masks on.

The attendees had to show proof that they had taken their vaccination and were required to wear their masks at indoor spaces. Many were turned away for not meeting the requirements.
Many posts however have gone viral with attendees saying many people used fake vaccination cards to get in and broke the health and safety rules at the festival.
Fake COVID-19 vaccination cards are 100% a thing at Lollapalooza in Chicago. You can get it with a single-day wristband for $50. I have confirmed that it does work. pic.twitter.com/AKz6gCyGgw

The four-day music festival had a massive line up with artists like Post Malone, Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, Limp Bizkit and many more performing.
People on the internet were shocked at the enormous crowd at the festival, with many dubbing it “deltapalooza”, “covidpalooza” and many other comparing the crowd pictures to the “Where’s Waldo?” puzzle book illustrations.

Other are enraged and in disbelief at how the festival and partygoers are going ahead with the festival despite surging Delta variant cases across the country.
Some also said that people simply don’t care anymore due to being in lockdown for too long and just want to be normal.
I’d like to live in a world where 100,000 massless people can go to #Lollapalooza and my kid can do the same at school. pic.twitter.com/U0OCyGpouD

Experts warn that a cascade of COVID-19 cases may occur and that the Delta variant may have already spread amongst the 100,000 daily audience.

“When you have 100,000 or more people who are in a fairly enclosed space and there’s no social distancing, the vast majority are not wearing masks, you are going to get some transmission of Covid-19 Delta variant,” said infectious disease expert Dr Tina Tan.
