Today has been marked by sadness as we unfortunately come with news that Nicki Minaj has lost her father in a hit-and-run accident.

The sad incident took place in New York as Nicki’s father, Robert Maraj was walking along a road in Long Island.

According to a police statement, the 64-year-old was struck by a driver who then left the scene. He was taken to the hospital for injuries but unfortunately, Robert was pronounced dead the next day.

Officers from Nassau County Police Department shared that “the investigation is ongoing”.

While the statement did not specify the rapper’s (whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty) relationship with Robert, a police spokesman confirmed that he was indeed her father.
