Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman has created history by becoming the most successful Malaysian woman weightlifter at the Commonwealth Games.

This, after she picked up the silver medal in the over-86kg event with a total lift of 253 kilos.

She surpasses the achievements of Malaysia’s previous best-performers Raihan Yussof and Irene Jane Henry, who managed bronze medals.

 Siti Aqilah’s result also means that weightlifting has now contributed a total of seven medals at the ongoing Glasgow Games comprising five gold, one silver and one bronze.

The Malaysian contingent’s current tally stands at six gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

Low Zi Yu and Noraqilah Maisara have made the women’s doubles quarterfinals at the Taipei Badminton Open after pulling off a shock win over their third-seeded opponents from the host nation.

Some of the world’s top footballing nations could be missing from future major tournaments. 

This, after 55 European FA’s – including recently-crowned world champions Spain – voted unanimously to boycott all competitions organized by the sport’s world governing body, if it goes ahead with plans to sell stakes in these tournaments to private investors.

Concacaf – which governs football in North and Central America – has also said that it rejects the investor proposal.
