Cape Verde Stun The Mighty Spain

Cape Verde have pulled off one of the biggest upsets so far at the football festival in North America.

This, after the tournament debutants held European champions Spain to a goalless draw in their Group H encounter.

The tiny African nation, who are ranked 65 places below their opponents in the world rankings, also limited the Spaniards to just seven shots on target.

Other matches this morning saw Belgium come from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw with Egypt in Group G.

While Saudi Arabia kicked off their campaign with an impressive 1-1 draw with Uruguay.

Separately, Brazil’s medical department says its unlikely Neymar will play any part in the group stage, as they look to carefully manage the forwards return from a calf problem.

-

Ruben Amorim has reportedly agreed to become AC Milan’s next head coach.

The former Man United boss is expected to sign a two-year contract later this week, to replace Max Allegri, who was sacked after the Italian club failed to qualify for the Champions League.

And…

Defender Josko Gvardiol has agreed to extend his Man City contract until the summer of 2031, effectively ending speculation of possible moves to either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
