Tun Dr. Hasmah Mohd Ali, the wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, passed away this morning at IJN at the age of 100.
This has been confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
Tun Dr. Hasmah is known and loved for her contributions to medicine and community welfare.
She is also the first wife of a former Malaysian prime minister to receive the Seri Setia Mahkota Malaysia federal award, which carries the title Tun.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofia, Queen of Malaysia have expressed their condolences over Tun Dr Hasmah’s passing.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim paid tribute to her service and contributions to the country and the community.
