Soldier Charged Over MEX Crash

A soldier has been charged with the murder of a Bangladeshi man in an alleged drink-driving crash last week.

The 31-year-old is believed to have veered onto the opposite lane before colliding with an e-hailing vehicle carrying the deceased and another passenger along the MEX Highway.

No bail was granted, with the case set for mention on July 21st.

The charge carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 40 years…or whipping if the death penalty is not imposed.

Malaysia needs a specific system to track and record repeat domestic violence offenders.

The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry says the lack of such records poses a challenge in its efforts to help victims, adding that the matter has already been brought up in its discussions with various agencies.

Meanwhile, Kedah police say the suspect who allegedly assaulted his wife until she suffered a miscarriage has been married nine times, with all his current and former wives working as civil servants.

Cops believe that the 43-year-old, who does not have a stable job, typically targets civil servants as spouses in order to support his livelihood.

LHDN has announced that the deadline to submit the tax return form for 2025 has been extended until May 15th.

Its also advising taxpayers to make full use of the extension by filing early to ensure a smooth process and to avoid system congestion nearer to the deadline.
