Social Media Age Verification And Digital Education Must Go Hand-In-Hand

The Online Safety Act’s age verification system for social media must be accompanied by comprehensive digital education.  

The Malaysian Cyber Consumers Association says this is the best way to ensure that young users fully understand the risks involved with going online.  

It also urged the govt to hold dialogue sessions across various levels of society to ensure people understand the reasons for the policy.

A 19-year-old who died while hiking in Hulu Selangor recently has been laid to rest in Perak.  

Her remains were found yesterday, some four days after she went missing during a hiking trip with her family.  

Police say her case has been classified as sudden death.

The Malaysian Employers Federation has played down recent data, which showed a rise in job losses in April.  

The MEF says currently, companies are adopting a more cautious approach to hiring, and are focusing more on reskilling workers and improving automation.  

This, amid rising costs due to global economic uncertainty, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions.
