Penang Reports First Heat-Related Death

Penang has reported its first heat-related death this year.  

This, after the state Health Dept confirmed that a 42-year-old man died of heatstroke last week after competing in a running event in George Town.  

The Dept also reminded people to take the necessary precautions during the ongoing hot spell.  

This includes drinking lots of water, and avoiding prolonged outdoor exposure.

Meanwhile, 9 areas in Kedah, Kelantan and Sabah were under MetMalaysia’s Level 1 heat alert this morning.  

The alert is given when an area posts max temperatures of between 35-37 degrees Celsius for at least three straight days.

The MyJPJ app’s switch to MyDigital ID as the only login system for Malaysian users proceeded smoothly.  

According to MyDigital ID, there were no reports of technical issues, and adds that the system is stable.  

It adds that so far, 7 million MyJPJ users have already registered with MyDigital ID.  

The move to the single login system happened on Friday.

The Post‑Maternity Leave Allowance is aimed at helping more women return to work after childbirth and is in line with international standards.  

SOCSO says the scheme will will cover living costs during extended maternity leave.

It stressed that the allowance will not burden employers, as the cost is shared through social security.
