Datuk Haji Ismail Bin Lasim has been sworn in as the new Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

This, after he received the assent of the Yang DiPertuan Besar to take on the post, after winning the Juasseh seat in yesterday’s state election. 

Ismail is the Kuala Pilah UMNO chief, and a member of the UMNO Supreme Council.

It follows Barisan Nasional’s 18-seat victory in the election – which, along with its ally Perikatan Nasional’s seven-seat win – gives them a two-thirds majority in the state assembly.

Pakatan Harapan, meanwhile, secured just 11 seats.

Meanwhile, only three of the nine women who contested in yesterday’s Negeri Sembilan state election managed to win.

Two are from BN while one was from Pakatan Harapan.

Meanwhile, thirty-five-year-old BN candidate Siti Nur Umaira Hasim was the election’s youngest winner…while the oldest was UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, who is 70.

Yesterday also saw MCA end its 13-year absence from the Negeri Sembilan state assembly after winning two seats.

One of them was the hotly-contested Chennah seat…where Siow Kong Choon defeated DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, who has held the seat since 2013.

The Selangor Veterinary Services Department has opened an investigation over the incident in Port Klang, where a dog named Rocky was killed during a recent stray catching operation.

It says multiple complaints have been lodged through the MyAnimalWelfare system after clips of the incident began circulating online.
