Initiatives To Address West Asia Conflict's Impact On Jobs

The HR Ministry will be launching a series of comprehensive support initiatives for Malaysian workers, in conjunction with this week’s Labour Day celebration.

This is to help address the impact of the West Asia crisis on the local labour market.

It follows a recent report which showed that nearly six thousand Malaysians were laid off last month, with workers in KL and Selangor among the worst-affected.

In a related development, Malaysia needs to prepare for the possibility of supply disruptions for things like diesel and fertilizer.

The PM says we have sufficient stock for the next few months, but need to brace for potential problems if the ongoing West Asia conflict drags on for longer.

The government will be meeting with e-commerce operators soon, to discuss several pressing issues, including the matter of refunds and returns on the platforms.

This, following claims that some customers were taking advantage of loopholes to obtain goods without payment.
