Brace For A Drawn Out West Asia Conflict

We need to prepare for the possibility of the conflict in West Asia dragging on for longer.

The Prime Minister says his conversations with world leaders indicate that things are likely to get worse before they get better…with a lengthy recovery period also expected.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim adds that while we cant avoid being affected by global events, we’re in a good position to weather the challenges. 

The Prime Minister adds that Malaysians can also play their part by not spreading fake news about fuel and electricity price hikes, which will only threaten stability and public confidence.

He has also directed PDRM and the MCMC to take swift action against those spreading these rumours on social media.

Meanwhile, the PM has announced a work-from-home initiative for the public sector as well as government-linked companies, starting April 15th. 

It is part of efforts to lower energy use amid rising global oil prices.

In other news…

The Communications Ministry says the investigation into the so-called corporate mafia is ongoing, with findings to be made public in due course.

The constitutional amendments on separating the AG and Public Prosecutor’s roles, as well as limiting the PM’s tenure are expected to be re-tabled at the next parliamentary sitting.

The government has yet to discuss imposing harsher penalties for fatal drunk-driving cases, with actions to continue being taken under existing laws.

Police have detained an army corporal in Bentong over the alleged assault of seven other military personnel…one of whom required treatment in the ICU.

And, NASA’s Artemis 2 is now orbiting the earth after a successful launch this morning as the four-person crew starts a ten-day mission to circle the moon.
