Motorists are reminded to avoid taking unnecessary risks while driving during heavy rain.  

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Dept says this includes planning their journeys and avoiding flooded roads.  

It’s because driving through deep floodwaters can cause vehicles to lose control or suffer engine damage.  

Meanwhile, if do find yourself trapped in floodwaters, contact emergency services immediately.  

Do not attempt self-rescue if water levels continue to rise or if currents are strong.

This, as flash floods were reported in several parts of the Klang Valley yesterday following heavy rain.  

At least one area in Petaling Jaya recorded waters of two metres deep  

However, no casualties or evacuations were reported.

Two cars were damaged after a water tank fell from the upper levels of a hotel in Ampang yesterday following heavy rain and strong winds.  

Ampang Jaya police say they did not receive any reports of injuries or casualties.

One person has died after an uprooted tree fell onto two cars along KL’s Jalan Tun Razak last night.  

According to police, the victim succumbed to his injuries early this morning.  

Cops also confirmed that 7 other people were taken to hospital following the incident.
