Govt Considering Complete Waze Ban

The government may consider a complete ban on Waze in Malaysia.

However, PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says such a move would only happen if alternative navigation apps, including those developed locally have enough capacity to meet demand.

He said this after the govt barred civil servants from using Waze while on official business.

Datuk Seri Anwar also insists it will NOT make a U-turn on the ban for public servants, saying it is a national security issue.

Meanwhile, govt spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil says people are free to use any Waze alternative, including those developed overseas.

The Waze restriction was announced due to concerns about its data security and the app's ties with Israel.
