It is not true that the influx of foreigners into the country is driving the recent increase in tuberculosis cases here.

The Health Minister says this perception is inaccurate, since 85 percent of the cases involve locals.

He is also warning that the risk of transmission within our community is real, and should not be taken lightly.

As such, he is urging the public to seek immediate treatment if they display symptoms like a persistent cough, fever and weight loss.

The JPJ has scrapped its daily quota for queue numbers at its branches nationwide.

This is to allow the department to attend to as many customers as possible during office hours.

The move follows complaints from the public about queue numbers running out, even with hours to go before closing time.
