
The Education Ministry has completed the delivery of lockers to primary schools
nationwide.
It told FMT that 400,000 lockers have been distributed since the programme was
announced four years ago.
The ministry announced the measure amid complaints of primary students being forced
to carry heavy school bags.
Besides this, the ministry says it is taking other measures to deal with the issue,
including implementing digital textbooks and restructuring school timetables.

The Higher Education Ministry says it will take time before it can assume
oversight for Form 6 and Matriculation programme, as outlined under the new
Education Blueprint.
This is because the relevant laws need to be amended first, before it takes over
the programmes from the Education Ministry.
