There is finally some relief for individuals using unsubsidized fuel amid the war in the Middle East.

The retail price of unsubsidized RON95 and RON97 petrol in the Peninsular will decrease by 25 sen per liter for the week ending April 22nd.

The price of diesel will also drop by 75 sen for the same period.

Meanwhile, RON95 petrol under the Budi95 program will remain at RM1.99 per litre under the targeted subsidy framework.

In a related development, the government is stepping up enforcement against diesel smuggling.

As such, it's deployed police personnel to more than 150 high-risk petrol stations nationwide to address leakage and misappropriation.

Also, officials are reviewing the country's fuel subsidy targeting mechanism...including proposals to move from direct cash assistance towards a more structured system.

Police have arrested a former express bus driver and a woman believed to be his girlfriend while they were giving their statements yesterday.

This, as part of an investigation into the driver's alleged act of holding the woman on his lap while driving along the North-South Expressway recently.

Cops add that preliminary investigations found that the man, who is from KL, had known the woman from Kedah for five months.

The man claimed the dangerous act happened because the woman was excited and wanted to learn how to drive a bus.
