Over 1,800 Fake Social Media Accounts Detected

More than 1,800 fake social media accounts have been detected so far, some of which have been used to spread content that touches on race, religion and royalty.

The Communications Minister says the majority of these are on Facebook and TikTok.

It adds that some accounts even impersonate legitimate figures or organisations, to publish false statements and other provocative content with the intention of triggering public backlash.

Airports around the country could soon get upgraded scanning machines.

The Home Ministry says this is something the government is looking into, as part of efforts to strengthen security and improve the effectiveness of baggage screening.

It points out that our existing scanners are doing their job well, but the government is being proactive in looking for more advanced and capable entry-point screening systems.

Ten areas nationwide are currently experiencing unhealthy air quality levels. 

The Department of Environment says nine of these localities are in Sarawak, while one is in Selangor.

Meanwhile, the Met Department says southern Sarawak, especially, should experience reduced visibility as winds blow haze over from across the border.
