
The Health Ministry has reminded people to remain vigilant for tuberculosis during the upcoming festive period and long holidays.
This includes wearing face masks in crowded areas and practicing proper coughing and sneezing etiquette.
It also advised people to undergo a screening immediately if they show symptoms including prolonged cough, fever, loss of appetite or weight loss.
This, as KKM recorded 500 new TB cases up to the first week of February.
This means that 2,500 cases have now been detected nationwide.

There is not much risk of transboundary haze due to the current hot and dry spell.
MetMalaysia says it's because currently, winds are blowing into the country from the South China Sea and not from neighbouring countries.
It adds that if there is any haze, it will likely be caused by open burning in Malaysia.
Recently, several parts in Kedah, Perak and Johor were under the department's Level 1 heat alert, after reporting maximum temperatures of between 35-37 degrees Celsius.
However, temperatures in these areas are currently back to normal levels.

The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry assures there are enough supplies of food items like eggs, chicken and beef, fish, and vegetables to meet demand for Ramadan and Aidilfitri.
Meanwhile, FAMA says it's working closely with producers, wholesalers and retailers to ensure steady supplies during this period.
