Efforts are still ongoing to determine the status of the 55 Malaysians, who are unaccounted for following the massive landslide and flooding in Nepal and China.
The Foreign Ministry says it will go over the data and information obtained by our SMART Team’s recent deployment to Nepal, to determine the next course of action.
It adds that our embassy in Kathmandu also continues to work closely with Nepalese authorities regarding the latest situation there.

The Health Ministry is preparing for a possible increase in patients coming to government hospitals.
Its director general said this in response to concerns that rising health insurance costs – which have risen by up to 20 percent annually – could force more people to seek treatment at public facilities.
He adds that the MOH and the Finance Ministry are also working together to ensure that Malaysians have access to sustainable health coverage – including via the Medi-Asas program.

Former Minister Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom has pleaded not guilty, after being charged with three counts of causing Lembaga Tabung Haji to dispose of more than 860 million ringgit in assets in the mid-2000’s.
He was granted bail of 300 thousand ringgit, with case management set for November 5th.
