All-England Championships: All Our Players Arrived Safely

The conflict between the US and Iran did not affect our badminton players’ travel plans for this week's All England Championship.

According to reports, our shuttlers arrived safely in Birmingham, UK, at the weekend.

Their flight was unaffected as they were transiting in Dubai before the violence broke out.

Meanwhile, BAM sec gen Datuk Kenny Goh says the association is monitoring the situation in the Middle East.

He adds that BAM may make new travel arrangements for the players, for their return to Malaysia at the end of the tournament.

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has criticised his players’ decision-making following their 2-1 defeat to EPL leaders Arsenal – his first defeat since taking charge.

He says they conceded easy goals from Arsenal's set-pieces, and he also criticised Pedro Neto for getting sent off.

--

Separately, reports say Chelsea could join Newcastle in the race to sign striker Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan is out of favour at Saudi club Al-Hilal and could leave this summer.

--

Real Madrid will try to return to winning ways in La Liga, when they host Getafe.

This, after the Spanish giants lost 2-1 to Ossasuna last weekend.

A win tomorrow morning will reduce their gap with leaders Barcelona to just one point.

--

Manchester United are reportedly considering hiring Portugal coach Roberto Martinez as their full-time manager this summer.

It's believed that Martinez will step down from the job after the World Cup to make way for Jose Mourinho.

--

Meanwhile, interim United boss Michael Carrick has played down any serious fitness concerns for Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, after they had to be substituted in last night's win against Crystal Palace.

He says it was due to illness, and not injury.
