You might be feeling bored staying at home but for many it’s taking a toll on their mental health. And one tiger in China is unfortunately going through the same.

A video of a white Bengal tiger from a Beijing zoo recently went viral after the tiger was seen pacing tirelessly in endless circles.

The “depressed” tiger is breaking hearts on the internet and was reportedly taken away by the zoo keepers to undergo “psychological counselling” after they noticed the tiger’s behaviour.

“This kind of behaviour is expected after animals have stayed in a zoo for a long time,” a staff member explained.

“We have taken the animal to receive behaviour training. We also brought more food and toys for the tiger. It’s like “psychological counselling.”

Many people on social media are concerned over the tiger’s wellbeing, presumably from the lack of people visiting the zoo due to the pandemic with one user saying, “I seem to have observed this before. This behaviour of walking in circles is common in animals” and that its “health problems need attention.”

The video that went viral was reportedly recorded late last month and the zoo has recently released photos of a white Bengal tiger playing with a ball in a pool. But it is unsure whether it’s the same tiger from the viral video.

Either way we hope that the tiger is getting better and wish that everyone that's feeling trapped at home will too!
