Malaysians Can See The Rare “Super Flower Moon” TONIGHT!

It’s the last supermoon in 2020, don’t miss it!

In the darkest night, the moon shines the brightest… Or maybe it’s just a supermoon and you can catch them tonight!

A “super flower moon” will occur tonight (May 7) in Malaysia and it’s your last chance to see one this year so make sure you don’t miss it!

If you’re not familiar with what a supermoon is, it’s when a new or full moon happens at or near the perigee syzygy. In simpler terms, it’s when the moon is at the closest point to Earth along its orbit around our planet!

Instead of the average of 384,400km from earth, the final supermoon of 2020 will be 361,184km away and will be at its peak around 7:18pm tonight and can be up to 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than a normal full moon!

While not at its peak, the easiest time to catch the moon will be around sunset. Just head out and see the opposite direction of the sunset and you’’ see it!

If you’re living by the seashore you might also see some high tides as the gravitational forces of the moon and the sun combine to pull the ocean’s water in the same direction, also known as the spring tides.

The Algonquin tribes of what is now the northeastern United States called the supermoon tonight the Flower Moon because the flowers that are abundant this time of year.
