The recent bushfires in Australia have reportedly killed as many as 8000 koalas and experts said that koalas are “functionally extinct” in some areas, and they’re still suffering.

The Australian koalas are currently suffering from the scorching temperatures of the heatwave that hits as high as 40°C.

Many of them are starving because the eucalyptus leaves that they consume are decimated by the fires.
