We always see memes of grandmothers keeping their money in tin containers instead of cookies but a grandma’s banknotes were actually destroyed after being kept in a tin for years!
A Facebook post recently went viral showing videos of how a Malaysian grandmother’s banknotes worth around RM300,000, crumbled into pieces after it was destroyed by pests in the metal containers!
The stacks to RM100 banknotes were seen falling into pieces and even breaking entirely in half all over the floor.
“All the banknotes that I took out here have problems. There is RM10,000 in one stack, and there are 23 stacks so that’s a total of RM230,000,” the man recording the video can be heard saying in one video.
The man also revealed that some of the stacks of money were half destroyed, but many have crumbled into pieces and it’s unsalvageable, but he will try to get them changed at the bank.
Fortunately one stack of banknotes around RM100,000 was still saveable and was kept aside.
There were also other stacks of banknotes that were folded up and tied up and if one stack is RM10,000 a stack as the man said, then the grandmother really lost a fortune!
Many people online are sharing the videos to make sure their family members don’t go through the same thing while some jokingly said that they wanted to be adopted by the grandmother.
The unfortunate incident aside, it’s definitely not safe to keep that much money in the house and perhaps it’s better to safe keep it at the bank instead!
