Say goodbye to pumpkins, and say hello to Pineapple Pumpkins!

However, there’s a downside to this veggie/fruit swap. Pineapples don't last as long as pumpkins. But that just gives us more reasons to get creative, right?

If you're thinking of making these cute, tropical screams, here are some tips from Martha Stewart for the perfect pineapple carving!

MATERIALS

  • Pineapple
  • Pineapple corer
  • Knife
  • LED tea lights
  • Optional for Batty Pineapple: black cardstock paper, bamboo skewers, tape, scissors

STEPS

  1. Cut off stem of pineapple and use the pineapple corer to hollow the pineapple; remove the pit with a knife.
  2. Carve a jack-o'-lantern face in the pineapple as you would a pumpkin. (Tip: Due to its stickiness, drawing out a design on the pineapple with a marker doesn’t work that well so you’ll have to freehand.)
  3. Place an LED tea light where the pit was removed.
  4. Optional for Batty Pineapple: Cut out bat wings from black cardstock and tape to bamboo skewers. Insert into sides of pineapple. (Tip: We used two bamboo skewers, broke them in half, and used only the pointed ends.)

So, forget pumpkins—pineapples are the new way to go!
