If you have a trip to Penang planned for the weekend you might want to be careful because two typhoons will be affecting the island!
Penang will be caught within the reach of Typhoon Nakri and Matmo starting today until this Sunday as Typhoon Nakri hits Vietnam on Saturday while Typhoon Matmo hits Myanmar and Bangladesh today.
The island will be experiencing heavy rainfall, strong winds and storms, but all response team including equipments, vehicles, logistics and manpower being on alert to brace the storm for any possible outcome.
“We (Penang) are caught between Typhoon Nakri that’s expected to make its impact on Vietnam on Saturday and could turn into a level 1 typhoon while Typhoon Matmo will be affecting Myanmar and Bangladesh,” said State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman, Phee Boon Poh.
