You know how movies and TV series often have facial recognition systems to track down criminals? Well it’s happening in real life now in Penang!
Penang just implemented facial recognition technology in a total of 767 cameras to help identify and apprehend criminals!
The cameras will use be used to track down criminals using the footages of any crimes that had happened to trigger an alarm when it detects the suspect’s latest location.
More cameras will be installed along the way and the police will use the data collected from the CCTVs to apprehend wanted criminals!
The facial recognition system can also detect suspects that committed crime outside of Penang!
This technological advancement definitely makes us feel safer! Hopefully it will be installed in the whole of Malaysia soon!
