Now, we’ve had quarrels with our neighbouring countries about certain foods belonging to certain countries, there’s no denying that.

But there’s one food argument that’s brought us all together, regardless of where we’re from.

Now, as Malaysians, we have a variety of cuisines to chose from, and when someone insults one of them, we go to war (kinda).

International affairs professor Tom Nichols caused outrage across the internet when he tweeted that “Indian food is terrible and we pretend it isn’t.”

Of course, almost everyone on the internet took offence at what he said. His tweet caused an international debate with even professional food critics and chefs coming in to call his comment a “tasteless generalisation.”

The professor who teaches at the US Naval War College In Rhode Island rubbed everyone the wrong way with some people even offering to take him out for some proper Indian food.

We know we love our Indian food and we’d definitely defend it to the end.

What are your thoughts about Tom’s tweet? Let us know!
