Have you ever felt something crawl up your leg but when you looked, there was nothing? For 19-year-old Umirah Mohamad, that was unfortunately not the case.
While out to the supermarket with her mum last weekend, Umirah felt something crawling up the inside of her jeans.

As it was a rainy afternoon, she had folded up jeans to avoid the puddles of water all around.
At first, Umirah thought that a lizard had crawled up her jeans but she was shocked and cried out in pain when that “lizard” bit her!

She then felt sharp claws digging into her thigh and realised that it wasn’t a lizard but a rat!
As she attempted to get the rat off by shaking her leg, the rat bit even deeper and held on to her thigh.

Umirah’s mum acted quickly and was forced to kill the rat with her bare hands through her jeans, as the rat would not budge from her daughter’s leg.
Her mum then rushed Umirah to the Segamat District Hospital where the 19-year-old received tetanus shots before she was allowed to go home.
We can’t even imagine the shock and pain that Umirah went through! Good thing her mum got her treatment before anything worse happened. What would you have done in this situation?
