Captain Marvel has finally landed, and the internet is going wild with excitement!

Entertainment Weekly released their latest issue and Captain Marvel leads the cover with an exclusive first look at Brie Larson as the title character. Brie's Air-Force-pilot-turned-intergalactic-hero is simply stunning!

As we all saw in the post-credit scene of Avengers: Infinity War, Nick Fury paged Captain Marvel for help before turning into dust. Captain Marvel will also reportedly appear in Avengers 4, "presumably to help beat up on Thanos," EW reported. But before all that happens, we get to see Carol Danver's story in her upcoming film.

Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has assembled a diverse line-up of female heroes, the part-Kree, part-human pilot will be the first solo female superhero who headlines her own story in the MCU. EW's cover sees Captain Marvel somewhere between the Earth and the sky, "a fitting place for a hero who's trying to figure out how to reconcile her alien abilities with her more human flaws".

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the origin-story template where Carol already has her powers when it begins. She becomes a superhero and leaves earth to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, after meeting Mar-Vell, a Kree alien played by Jude Law. Her powers include flight, super strength, and the ability to absorb and use energy.

Before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past and finds a formidable enemy in the form of the shape-shifting Skrulls.

"She can't help but be herself," Brie told EW. "She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. She's also quick to jump to things, which makes her amazing in battle because she's the first one out there and doesn't always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is, to some, a character flaw."

“This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection,” said Anna, who’s MCU’s first female director. “But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny, but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity—and all of its messiness."
