The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to lose another major player. Gwyneth Paltrow aka Pepper Potts.

In a recent interview with Variety, Gwyneth announced her official retirement from the MCU.

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” she said. “I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Jon Favreau [Iron Man director], It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to the fans.”

As the CEO of Stark Industries and eventual fiancée of Tony Stark, Pepper has always been the force that keeps Tony grounded. Now, with Gwyneth saying goodbye to the role, fans are questioning what would become of Tony and Iron Man?

Even the first trailer of Avengers: Endgame sees Tony recording a message to Pepper whilst lost in space!

Some fans are sad to see Gwyneth go but some even questioning if the rumours and theories are true. Would Iron Man not survive Avengers: Endgame? How could he without Pepper by his side?

However, Gwyneth’s departure may not affect Tony at all. She went on to say to Variety:

“I feel honoured to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,” the actress said. “Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?’ I will always be there if they need me.”

That’s a lot of mixed messages. We just hope this isn’t a bad sign for Iron Man…
