The Marvel Cinematic Universe could be expanding in the best way and we’re totally on board for its upcoming plans!

According to Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, Deadpool, X-Men and Fantastic Four are now all under the control of Marvel Studios.

The recent merger between 20th Century Fox and the Walt Disney Company has definitely been one for the books. But with this merger comes many questions especially concerning the MCU.

With many comic book characters strewn across different studios with different outcomes, fans are eager to see how Disney will handle Fox’s Marvel characters.

We’re happy to find out that Deadpool, X-Men and Fantastic Four have officially been placed under Marvel Studios’ umbrella and under the creative control of the studio’s president, Kevin Feige.

During Disney’s quarterly earning call, CEO Bob Iger referred to these three franchises as being “part of Marvel Studios” and we couldn’t be more excited!

Now, this doesn’t officially mean that these franchises will immediately be included in the MCU but we’re crossing our fingers and toes to see Deadpool alongside some of our favourite Avengers.

Plans for Marvel’s Phase 4 was recently revealed at the San Deigo Comic-Con but not much was said about including these three franchises into the upcoming phase. The studio’s president did however hint at Fantastic Four and X-Men’s possible inclusion in Phase 5.

In an interview from earlier this year, Kevin noted that he was excited about the future of all the Marvel characters.

“The truth is, I’m excited for all of [the characters],” he said. “I’m excited, and it’s not just the marquee names you know – there are hundreds of names on those documents, on those agreements. And the fact that Marvel is as close as we may ever get now to having access to all of the characters, is something I’ve been dreaming about for my almost 20 years at Marvel. And it’s very exciting.”

It’ll definitely be interesting to see what Marvel Studios will be able to create with Deadpool, X-Men and Fantastic Four. Which are you most looking forward to?
