Fans have been waiting for a Joker that meets the high expectations that was set ever since Heath Ledger played the character in The Dark Knight and now we might just have a Joker that is the creepiest yet!

The trailer for DC’s new movie – Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix, tells the origin story of how the Joker became the creepily infamous villain.

Many fans are saying that the late Heath Ledger would approve of the new Joker and we can see why!

Here are five things you might have missed in the new Joker trailer!

#1 Debra Kane

Joaquin Phoenix plays Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian and he was seen talking to a social worker named Debra Kane in the first scene.

Debra Kane appeared in the comic as Bruce Wayne’s informant to investigate a case.

Bob Kane is also the comic book writer that co-created Batman with Bill Finger.

#2 Wayne Hall

In the scene where Arthur looks like he was kicked out of a movie screening of Charlie Chaplin’s classic – Modern Times, the name of the building is seen at the top of the screen, Wayne Hall.

#3 Thomas Wayne

Besides the Wayne Hall, the father of Bruce Wayne, Thomas Wayne also appeared on TV, talking about his concerns for Gotham City after a cold blooded murder occurs.

The murder is likely to be Arthur’s first murder in the movie, since Thomas describes the killer as “someone who hides behind a mask.”

#4 Arkham Asylum

Whenever Batman captures his victims, he places them in the Arkham Asylum. And while the asylum appears to be a high tech facility, the one in the trailer looks like a run-down mental facility called the Arkham State Hospital.

#5 Bruce Wayne

Yes, your favourite Batman is appearing in the movie, but Bruce Wayne appears to be a young and innocent boy in the trailer and Arthur is seen trying to make him smile, in a creepy way.

This would mark the first Joker/Batman interaction, but whether Arthur is tied to the murder of Bruce’s parent is still yet unknown at this point.

While this Joker movie serves as a standalone movie and not tied to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), we’re not sure if we will see a Joker/Batman showdown anytime soon.

Do you like Joaquin Phoenix’s performance as the new Joker? Tell us your thoughts on it!
