There were some 15 cases of heat-related illnesses recorded nationwide so far this year.

The Health Ministry says four of these incidents involved heatstroke…while the rest were for heat exhaustion.

It adds that some of these cases involved members of uniformed bodies…who have to spend long hours outdoors while on duty.

-

Meanwhile, Met Malaysia says Kota Setar and Pokok Sena in Kedah…as well as Nabawan in Sabah…were the only areas nationwide under a level-one heat alert…with temperatures of between 35-37 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.

-

In a separate development…around a thousand Health Ministry officers will be sent out to monitor the preparation and cleanliness of food at Ramadan bazaars nationwide.

They will also work closely with local governments to ensure all food handlers are abiding by health regulations.

-

Meanwhile, there is sufficient supply of chicken and meat for Ramadan and Aidilfitri.

The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry says in the event that supplies start running low, it already has agreements in place to import these goods.

-

The Education Ministry says its considering introducing a new ruling specifically to address the trend of vaping among schoolkids…which has reached a worrying level.
