No Request For No-Confidence Vote

Feb 20, 2024

no request for no-confidence vote

There have been no requests for a motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister in the upcoming session of Parliament.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul says he has yet to receive any letter or official request from MP’s as of yesterday.

He said this, ahead of the opening of the next session of Parliament this coming Monday.

-

In a related development, Tan Sri Johari says the mandatory annual checkups for MP’s will be a permanent fixture...to ensure that our elected reps are fit and healthy for duty.

-

Meanwhile, there are plans to hold youth elections, to appoint new delegates to the Youth Parliament.

The Dewan Rakyat speaker says this is to help create and nurture our next generation of leaders.

It is also to get more youngsters interested in politics and social issues, instead of merely focusing on academic achievement.

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia has given the thumbs up to the proposal to set up designated smoking areas near certain eateries.

It feels that separating smokers into a specific area, will contribute to the de-normalization of smoking in the long-run…and sends a clear signal that smoking is not within social norms.

The Society says having a designated area for people to light up will also make it easier to ensure cleanliness and the proper disposal of cigarette butts.

The government intends to have Malaysians students take up TVET courses in China…in line with the Look East Policy 2.0.

The Deputy PM says this is in addition to earlier plans to send our TVET students to South Korea and Japan.
