Lower Speed Limit For Festive Period

The speed limit on all federal roads nationwide has been temporarily reduced from 90 to 80 kilometers an hour.

The reduction is in effect from today, until the 13th…in conjunction with the festive season exodus.

The Works Ministry is also suspending all non-essential road construction and maintenance work during this period.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority is expecting some 2.4 million vehicles daily along major highways during the Chinese New Year break.

Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle-Brown has been hit with a two year prison sentence for defaming the Sultanah of Terengganu, in an earlier expose about the 1MDB scandal.

Rewcastle-Brown, who is a British citizen, was sentenced in absentia.

The Health Ministry is being urged to look into the possibility that fatigue and overwork may have played a part in recent incidents where healthcare workers accidentally left their kids in their cars.

The Malaysian Medical Association told FMT authorities should at least look into matter, to prevent it from happening again.

The remains of all four victims of the water surge incident in Bidor, Perak have been found…with the discovery of the final two victims this morning.

The victims – a mother and her three kids – were swept away when the surge occurred while they were on a riverside picnic yesterday.

Nearly 2.7 million individuals have registered with the PADU database so far.

According to the Statistics Department, Sarawak, Selangor, Johor, Perlis and Kelantan have recorded the highest number of registrations since the system went online last month.
