Malaysia hit a grim milestone today, after we reported a record breaking 17,405 new COVID-19 cases.

According to the Health Ministry, over 7,000 cases were found in Selangor.

Perlis was the only state with single digit infections.

A quarter of the adult population now fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Almost 6 million people have already completed both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This means a quarter of the adult population are now fully vaccinated.

Yesterday, Malaysia hit a new record for daily vaccinations, after over 550,000 people were given the jab.

Overall, some 18 million doses have been administered nationwide.

Malaysia has yet to reach COVID vaccine registration target

More than 20 million people have now signed up for the COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for some 60% of the population.

However, Minister in charge of the National Immunisation Program Khairy Jamaluddin says there is still a ways to go before we hit the registration target of 80%.

Meanwhile, Khairy told Parliament that so far, over 2,300 vaccination centers have been set up nationwide.
