Before there was Thor and Spider-Man, there was Owen Chase and Thomas Nickerson.
While many recognize Chris Hemsworth and Tom Holland as our favourite Avengers, some might not know that the two actors have worked together before joining the MCU.

On the set of In the Heart of the Sea, Chris and Tom worked closely together and build a great friendship. Thanks to that friendship, we have our Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.
With the pressure building on Marvel Studios to find the perfect Peter, Chris revealed that he had a hand in helping Tom snagged the role.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently he said, “I mean, look, we worked on In the Heart of the Soul together, obviously, then through Avengers and as they were casting him for Spider-Man, I did what I could do and made a call and said he’s one of the most talented people I’ve worked with and has such a big heart and appreciation.”

“I don’t know, we have a great friendship,” Chris added. “It’s a good mutual respect.”
From that phone call, we have our Spider-Man as we know him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

In a separate interview, Tom shared that he’s in it for the long run to play our favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.
“It feels pretty good,” he said. “It’s an amazing experience as an actor and such a privileged experience as an actor to get to play characters that you love so much. Time and time again. I definitely have the mindset of, if you want to make 20 of these movies, then I’m down because it’s really fun.”
“It’s been a real privilege and so much fun,” Tom added. “Maybe even more fun this time around than the last one. It’s been great.”
