The Wuhan virus outbreak took the lives of 13 men and four women so far, and the first case of Wuhan virus in Singapore has just been confirmed.
A 66-year-old man from Wuhan has tested positive for the virus in Singapore after arriving with nine travelling companion on Monday (Jan 20).
The man’s 37-year-old son has also been warded after being suspected to have contracted the virus too.
The Ministry of Health confirms that they were staying at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa resort and the rest of the group will be quarantined and monitored for two weeks.
Another 53-year-old woman from China was also tested positive in preliminary tests for the virus and is still awaiting confirmation, but was not a part of the travelling group.
There have been 28 suspected cases aged from one to 78 years from the screening of temperatures of all air travellers from China with seven people cleared, but the virus has yet to spread to anyone in Singapore.
Other cases have also been confirmed in Taiwan, Japan Macau, Thailand, Vietnam and the United States.
Most of the people that were killed by the virus had gone to the hospital with a fever and a cough at first, though at least three did not have fevers when admitted.
The public is advised to avoid eating raw and undercooked meats and avoid contact with live animals.
