There are more and more vegans out there these days and while they try to spread awareness, these protestors were had meat thrown at them.
Around 20 vegans gathered outside a butcher shop in Perth, Australia to stop the store owners from selling horse meat.
But while the vegans stood in the 40-degree heat holding their signs, they were outnumbered by more than 300 meat lover supporters, and one of the supporters even threw a piece of steak at the protestors!
Witnesses said that the vegans were frustrated at the number of supporters that turned up to back up the butcher shop.
While one of the protestors shouted “stop the killing! Stop the violence! Fight with us!' over a megaphone, the butchers started parading by carrying lambs over their shoulders.
Some of the butchers also said that the protestors were hypocrites because they were spotted wearing leather bag and shoes.
“I couldn't believe they would waste so much time attacking individual farmers and butcher shops,” said shop owner Vince Garreffa.
“I couldn't believe the amount of farmers, butchers, and members of local council who came to support us. It was so humbling that I got emotional a few times.”
He also bought three speakers and hired a DJ to blast music for an hour every time the vegan protestors tried to do a speech.
“All the protesters worry about saving lots of animals but don't think for one minute you are on the higher ground, because there are animals that we grow for food and that's the way the world works.”
Some of the protestors were also restrained by the police during the protest.
