Singapore’s oldest COVID-19 survivor, Madam Yap Lay Hong, is 102-years-old and she recovered from the virus after spending a month in the hospital!

She recently reunited with her 73-year-old son, Alan Ho after Singapore entered phase two of reopening in the country and he decided to bring her favourite durian to celebrate life.

"I brought her durians. My wife had helped to remove the seeds and packed just the flesh for her,” the second son Alan, also known as “Ah Beng” said.

Alan would visit her every week with durian or durian puffs when he couldn’t find durians before the pandemic and finally reunited with his mother after three months.

"She loves durians and I started feeding her right away," he told The Straits Times.

The great-grandmother of 13 had spent around a month in the hospital after she and 16 resident and staff at the Lee Ah Mooi nursing home were diagnosed with COVID-19.

The cluster case led to the visitor ban of nursing and old folks’ homes in Singapore and three residents have reportedly died from the virus.

Madam Yap has five children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren that she wasn’t able to see during the pandemic.

Congratulations to the great-grandma! We hope that she can enjoy more of her favourite durians!
