Fans Think “Tangled” Predicted The COVID-19 Self-Quarantine

Many other shows have also “predicted” the pandemic

Many countries all over the world are currently practicing social distancing by staying at home. And being at home means more time on the internet and that resulted in many theories about how movies and shows predicted the pandemic, including Disney’s Tangled!

The Disney movie that was released in 2010 tells the story of how the princess Rapunzel was trapped in a castle by Mother Gothel, a crone that kidnapped her to use her magic hair to stop her from ageing.

Gothel posed as Rapunzel's loving and overprotective mother that kept her from the “cruelty” of the outside world, which gives us the wicked song about how “mother knows best”.

But what shocked everyone was the fact that Rapunzel was locked away and isolated from the kingdom that was coincidentally named… Corona.

So according to that theory, we are all Rapunzel and the kingdom/village is the pandemic that we’re being isolated from.

And everyone is losing it, with many memes and tweets saying that the movie predicted the pandemic and self-quarantine situation that we’re in.

Of course it’s all just a coincidence, some pointed out that The Simpsons predicted the outbreak as well, with the latest being a Korean drama titled My Secret Terrius which shows that the virus was man-made and used as a biochemical attack.

With the amount of movies and TV series that exist, it’s no surprise that one will eventually “predict” any major event that’s to come. But the important thing is not to panic over these stories and make sure we do what we can to curb the spread of the virus!
